Dil Chahta Hai marked the directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar. Dil Chahta starred Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Kulkarni, Dimple Kapadia and Preity Zinta in lead roles. The actors, as we know did a phenomenal job. The movie completed twenty years of its release yesterday. Now, much to your surprise, Saif Ali Khan wasn't so sure about doing the film and it was Aamir Khan who convinced him to do the movie. Yes, you read that right!
Previously, in an interview with Midday, Saif Ali Khan shared that he was not entirely sure about signing the film. "I wasn't sure about doing the film, because it was like a third lead. I told Aamir that I was playing hero in other films, and he asked which ones. I mentioned them and he said DCH is three times all those films put together. He called it a good cinema and just said that I have to do it," said Saif Ali Khan.
During the interview, Saif also said that he initially felt a bit lost on the sets and it was ex-wife Amrita Singh's advice that helped me in giving his best. "I came home and spoke to my ex-wife about it. She said why are you asking other actors about how to play your role? Then I thought I'm just going to do it my way. When it worked, it gave me confidence that I have a connection to what I think is the way to do things and what the audiences like."
Saif Ali Khan, no doubt, delivered a terrific performance in the film and won hearts. Up next, Saif Ali Khan will be seen in Bhoot Police. The movie also stars Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Jacqueline Fernandez.
